SingleStore Vertical Scaling
This guide will give an overview on how KubeDB Ops Manager vertically scales up SingleStore.
Before You Begin
- You should be familiar with the following KubeDBconcepts:
The following diagram shows how KubeDB Ops Manager scales up or down SingleStore database components. Open the image in a new tab to see the enlarged version.
The vertical scaling process consists of the following steps:
- At first, a user creates a - SingleStoreCustom Resource (CR).
- KubeDBProvisioner operator watches the- SingleStoreCR.
- When the operator finds a - SingleStoreCR, it creates required number of- PetSetsand related necessary stuff like secrets, services, etc.
- Then, in order to update the resources(for example - CPU,- Memoryetc.) of the- SingleStoredatabase the user creates a- SingleStoreOpsRequestCR with desired information.
- KubeDBOps-manager operator watches the- SingleStoreOpsRequestCR.
- When it finds a - SingleStoreOpsRequestCR, it halts the- SingleStoreobject which is referred from the- SingleStoreOpsRequest. So, the- KubeDBProvisioner operator doesn’t perform any operations on the- SingleStoreobject during the vertical scaling process.
- Then the - KubeDBOps-manager operator will update resources of the PetSet Pods to reach desired state.
- After the successful update of the resources of the PetSet’s replica, the - KubeDBOps-manager operator updates the- SingleStoreobject to reflect the updated state.
- After the successful update of the - SingleStoreresources, the- KubeDBOps-manager operator resumes the- SingleStoreobject so that the- KubeDBProvisioner operator resumes its usual operations.
