How Reconfiguring PgBouncer Process Works
The following diagram shows how KubeDB Ops-manager operator reconfigures PgBouncer. Open the image in a new tab to see the enlarged version.

The Reconfiguring PgBouncer process consists of the following steps:
At first, a user creates a
PgBouncerCustom Resource (CR).KubeDBProvisioner operator watches thePgBouncerCR.When the operator finds a
PgBouncerCR, it createsPetSetand related necessary stuff like secrets, services, etc. Then, in order to reconfigure of the
PgBouncer, the user creates aPgBouncerOpsRequestCR with desired information.KubeDBOps-manager operator watches thePgBouncerOpsRequestCR.When it finds a
PgBouncerOpsRequestCR, it pauses thePgBouncerobject which is referred from thePgBouncerOpsRequest. So, theKubeDBProvisioner operator doesn’t perform any operations on thePgBouncerobject during the reconfiguring process. Then the
KubeDBOps-manager operator will replace the existing configuration with the new configuration provided or merge the new configuration with the existing configuration according to thePgBouncerOpsRequestCR.Then the
KubeDBOps-manager operator will perform reload operation in each Pod so that the desired configuration will replace the old configuration. After the successful reconfiguring of the
PgBouncer, theKubeDBOps-manager operator resumes thePgBouncerobject so that theKubeDBProvisioner operator resumes its usual operations.
In the next docs, we are going to show a step-by-step guide on reconfiguring PgBouncer database components using PgBouncerOpsRequest CRD.
