This guide will give you an overview on how KubeDB Ops-manager operator update the version of Druid.
Before You Begin
- You should be familiar with the following KubeDBconcepts:
How update version Process Works
The following diagram shows how KubeDB Ops-manager operator used to update the version of Druid. Open the image in a new tab to see the enlarged version.

The updating process consists of the following steps:
- At first, a user creates a - DruidCustom Resource (CR).
- KubeDBProvisioner operator watches the- DruidCR.
- When the operator finds a - DruidCR, it creates required number of- PetSetsand related necessary stuff like secrets, services, etc.
- Then, in order to update the version of the - Druiddatabase the user creates a- DruidOpsRequestCR with the desired version.
- KubeDBOps-manager operator watches the- DruidOpsRequestCR.
- When it finds a - DruidOpsRequestCR, it halts the- Druidobject which is referred from the- DruidOpsRequest. So, the- KubeDBProvisioner operator doesn’t perform any operations on the- Druidobject during the updating process.
- By looking at the target version from - DruidOpsRequestCR,- KubeDBOps-manager operator updates the images of all the- PetSets.
- After successfully updating the - PetSetsand their- Podsimages, the- KubeDBOps-manager operator updates the image of the- Druidobject to reflect the updated state of the database.
- After successfully updating of - Druidobject, the- KubeDBOps-manager operator resumes the- Druidobject so that the- KubeDBProvisioner operator can resume its usual operations.
In the next doc, we are going to show a step by step guide on updating of a Druid database using updateVersion operation.
